Hello Fellow Artist! š» In my recent Zoom demo, several artists shared that they havenāt been painting much lately. Not because they donāt love to paint, draw, or do any craft, but because life is simply full right now. The Holidays have a way of doing that. There are lists to finish, gatherings to attend, and routines turned upside down. And for many artistsāespecially beginnersāpainting understandably takes a back seat. Thatās not a failure. Itās a season. Iām here to remind you of something: š You are still an artist, even if your paints are resting. I give myself permission to slow down this time of year. I let my hands rest, my expectations soften, and use the time to charge up my creative energy. Iāve learned that forcing art during busy seasons rarely brings joyāand joy is what keeps us painting! šØ Instead, I stay connected to my creativity in simple ways. If youāre craving a sense of being creativeābut donāt have the space or energy to paintāhere are a few ideas that ask very little, yet still count.
I always feel good after I take creative photos. Iām not abandoning my art, just using another medium. šø You could snap photos of:
Itās fun, de-stressing, and gives you a growing collection of future painting references. Even a few minutes feels like youāve created somethingābecause you have!
š§ Iāve learned to enjoy this time of year by not putting too much pressure on myself. I relax. I recharge. I trust that my creative ideas donāt disappear when I slow downāthey gather. When January arrives, I return to my paints refreshed, not resentful. If watercolor feels distant right now, thatās okay. Theyāll be there when youāre ready again. Until then, notice a little beauty. Take a photo. Let that be enough for today. š I hope this helps take a little stress off you. Sometimes, it helps to hear from other artists that you're doing okay. Happy Holidays, sending you Love and Light! š Cheers, Molly š» āShop Prints & Originalsā š Join me and paint with me! |

Something has been quietly growing in my studio these past few weeks. šļø Itās sitting right next to my watercolor palette⦠but slowly taking over...it's oil paints! "April Showers" Molly's Fine Art. My largest painting yet! Hello Fellow Artist! Yay! I just finished the largest watercolor Iāve ever painted! And I almost didn't finish it. š³ For months, it was sitting on a chair, out of the way of the main part of my studio, halfway finished. And when I would see it, I would say to myself, "someday..." Then, thankfully, there was a call for art at my local art gallery, the theme was Spring. I glanced at the half-finished painting that had been waiting...
