I've got lots of news today! I’m so excited to let you know that my new series, Molly’s Monday Mixes, is here! 🎨

I hope your day is getting off to a great start and you got some painting time in over the weekend.

I did a fun thing this weekend, I used white gouache to create white coneflowers on a dark background. 🌼

The challenge was waiting (patience Molly patience as my mom always told me)..for the paper to be damp but not puddling when I applied the gouache.

I’m working on a step-by-step tutorial on how I achieved these coneflowers in my next video, which will be in my new and improved Joyful Watercolor Membership! ​

If you know me at all, you’ll know I love mixing colors. I like the challenge, but I’m really just drawn to beautiful colors, and I love creating complimentary color mixes.

🌟 In this debut tutorial of Molly’s Monday Mixes I’m swatching two of my favorite colors: Burnt Sienna and Prussian Blue in my handmade Swatch Diary.

These are my two favorites because they create so many beautiful hues together. (Burnt Sienna and Ultra-Marine Blue) work almost the same together if you don’t have Prussian Blue.

The grays they create are perfect for shadows, and the browns are beautiful, not dull, and pleasing to the eye.

These colors are staples for every artist’s palette.
